Boring is unincorporated foothill country where 212 meets US 26 on the way to Mount Hood. A lot of the land around it is zoned for rural homes on acreage, so one property might have a house garage, a detached shop and a pole barn, each with its own door. One call covers every door on the place. Our work here runs from the side roads off 212 to the farm country toward Kelso.
Garage door repair for Boring acreage and shops
We repair the big doors as well as the house door: shop, RV-bay and pole-barn doors, sectional or roll-up.
A tall RV door or a wide shop door carries heavier springs and longer cables than a house door does, and some outbuildings use roll-up doors that work differently from sectional ones. A door that sits closed for months deserves a check of its rollers, cables and springs before the season starts.
A door that won’t stay open on its own
A door that slides down or needs propping has worn or broken springs. Treat it as a hazard: keep people and vehicles clear and call.
Outbuilding doors are prone to it. An RV or pole-barn door that only opens a few times a year sits with its springs under tension for months, and a worn one can give out the first time the door moves in spring. Then someone wedges a 2×4 under it to keep it up. Please don’t rely on a prop or keep lifting it. We replace the springs and balance the door so it stays where you leave it. A door that has been propped for a while often has worn rollers or frayed cables too, and we check those while we are there.

Learn more →Cable off the drum after a bump?
If the door caught a trailer hitch or a mirror and now hangs crooked, a cable has likely come off its drum. Unplug the opener and leave the door alone.
Running a lopsided door can bend the track or let one side fall. We reset or replace the lift cables, check the drums and the bottom brackets, and re-level the door. Raising the door fully before you back a trailer through saves a lot of trouble. If the rollers have come out of the rails, our off-track door repair puts the door back in place.
Old opener with no safety eyes?
If your opener has no working safety sensors, stop using it until that is fixed. Sometimes the eyes only need to be reconnected or realigned, but an opener built before photo-eyes were standard should be replaced.
Some older shop openers simply predate them. On other properties the eyes were knocked loose years ago and never reconnected, and our sensor repair handles that case. A working opener stops and reverses when anything crosses the beam: a child, a dog, a wheelbarrow. When replacement is the answer, we fit a new opener, such as a LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie or Craftsman, with sensors on house and shop doors, check the door balance first, and show you how the manual release works. If you want to check from the house, a Wi-Fi opener shows on your phone whether the shop door is shut.
Is the old door past saving?
A door is past saving once its sections are split, rotted through or badly bent, or when it needs a new part every season. Then we install a new one and haul the old door away as part of the job.
House doors are available in steel, carriage-house and modern styles, insulated or not, and shop and RV doors from Clopay, Wayne Dalton, Amarr and others can be ordered to fit the opening. We measure, walk you through the options with a free estimate, and handle the new door installation from start to finish, including the opener if you want one.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Can you work on RV and pole-barn doors?
Yes, we repair the big outbuilding doors: RV bays, shops and pole barns, and we are licensed and insured for all of it. A rough width and height over the phone helps us load the right springs and cables.
How far is Boring from your base?
About 5 miles, so the 97009 area is a short drive for us.
My shop door will not stay open on its own. Is that dangerous?
Yes. A door that drifts down or needs propping has worn or broken springs. Keep people and vehicles clear of it and call us before anyone lifts it again.
Can I get a keypad for the shop door?
Yes. An outside keypad lets anyone in the household open the shop without a remote, and we set a private code when we install it.
Need a garage door fixed in Boring?
We are just up 212 from you, so the house, the shop and the pole barn are all close to home for us. Call 7 AM to 8 PM, weekends included.
